When to go
Remember that in the southern hemisphere the seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere. In general, summer (21st December; 21st March) with mild temperatures and long days is the most ideal time to visit Patagonia and the Southern Andes. Wintertime (June 21st ; September 21st) is recommended for traveling to the North and Northwest as rain is less frequent and the tropical temperature drop a few degrees. Autumn (21st March ; 21st June) and spring (21st September ; 21st December) are marvelous in Buenos Aires, Cuyo and the pre-mountain ranges areas of La Rioja and Catamarca.

Social Situation
Argentina has suffered many social, economical and political changes in the last few months due to the resignation of the president last December and it’s replacement by a transitional government. Social demonstrations were intensified though not interfering with daily life since they are peaceful protests from different sectors in society fighting for their rights. The peso devaluated in a 370% approximately favoring tourism enormously making Argentina a very affordable destiny for the foreign visitor. You will get 3,70 pesos per dollar though the peso value fluctuates continually. You can calculate exactly how many pesos you will get for your dollars at www.xe.xom/ucc. Since January 2002, ATMs expend only the local currency and not dollars any more.
